Using AI Intelligently

Using AI Intelligently - Email Marketing Ideas Require Deep Work   Using AI Intelligently in Many Ways and for a Variety of Purposes

Using AI intelligently takes some time. Some people trust AI right away because it sounds convincing. Others check everything so carefully that they lose the time AI was meant to save. Most of us go back and forth between these two approaches, depending on what we’re doing.

Trusting AI doesn’t have to mean believing everything it says. The goal is learning how to use it thoughtfully—much like we use other tools that can be extremely helpful without being perfect.

The better approach may be somewhere in the middle. We don’t need to blindly trust AI, but we also don’t need to distrust it simply because it isn’t perfect. Think of AI as an extremely capable assistant—one that can help you brainstorm ideas, organize information, explain complicated subjects, draft a first version of something, find patterns, and help you see possibilities you might not have considered on your own. The value often comes not from asking AI to make every decision for you, but from using it to make your own thinking more productive.

One of the most useful habits you can develop is learning when to trust AI and when to verify it. If you’re asking for ten ideas for blog post titles, you probably don’t need to spend twenty minutes checking whether each suggestion is correct. If you’re asking about a medical, legal, financial, or other high-stakes matter, however, verification becomes much more important. The question isn’t simply, “Can I trust AI?” A better question is, “How much verification does this particular task require?”

It also helps to remember that AI doesn’t have to be right 100 percent of the time to be useful. A calculator can make a mistake if we enter the wrong numbers. A search engine can lead us to an outdated page. A human expert can misunderstand a question. We don’t necessarily stop using these tools because they aren’t perfect. Instead, we learn how to use them appropriately. AI deserves that same practical perspective.

For someone who is still skeptical about artificial intelligence, I would suggest starting small. Don’t hand over an important decision and hope for the best. Instead, ask AI to help you with something you’ve been putting off. Have it turn your rough notes into an outline. Ask it to give you five ways to approach a problem. Let it explain a subject you’ve always found confusing. Give it a piece of writing and ask for suggestions to make it clearer. Then evaluate the results yourself.

You may discover something important: AI isn’t necessarily replacing your thinking. It can actually give you more room to think. When the tedious parts of a task take less time, you have more energy available for the parts that require your experience, judgment, creativity, and human perspective. That’s where I believe the greatest opportunity lies.

The goal isn’t to become an unquestioning believer in AI. It’s to become a thoughtful user of it. Be curious. Be skeptical when skepticism is warranted. Verify important information. Protect your privacy. And at the same time, don’t let the fear of getting something wrong keep you from exploring a tool that could make many parts of your work and daily life considerably easier.

AI doesn’t have to be something you either completely trust or completely reject. There is a third option: learn how to work with it wisely.

I’m asked this question frequently…” Once someone begins to trust AI, what are some ideas on how to use it for both personal growth and your business?”

I think this is where the conversation about AI becomes much more interesting. Once someone stops asking, “Can I trust AI?” and begins asking, “What can I do with it?”, the possibilities become much broader.

For Personal Growth

1. Use AI as a thinking partner.
Sometimes we don’t need someone to give us an answer—we need someone to help us think. You can describe a situation to AI and ask it to help you look at the problem from several different perspectives. It can ask questions you hadn’t considered, point out assumptions, or help you identify what may really be bothering you.

2. Use it for journaling and reflection.
Instead of simply writing, “I’m frustrated today,” you can ask AI to help you explore why. You might say, “Here is what happened today. Help me identify what I can learn from this experience and what I might do differently next time.” The AI isn’t living your life for you. It’s helping you examine your experiences more deliberately.

3. Learn almost anything.
AI can become a patient tutor. You can ask it to explain something at a beginner’s level, give you an example, quiz you, explain it another way, or gradually increase the difficulty. This can be especially valuable for adults who have always wanted to learn something but felt intimidated about starting.

4. Reframe old beliefs.
This is particularly powerful for personal growth. You can tell AI about a belief that has been holding you back and ask it to help you examine where that belief came from, whether it is still serving you, and what a more useful perspective might look like. You remain the person making the judgment; AI simply gives you another perspective to consider.

5. Turn goals into action.
“Get healthier,” “write a book,” “start a business,” or “learn a new skill” are enormous goals. AI can help break them into smaller steps, create a realistic schedule, identify obstacles, and help you decide what to do next.

For Your Business

6. Brainstorm constantly.
Business owners don’t always need more information. Sometimes they need more ideas. AI can help brainstorm product ideas, blog topics, social media posts, lead magnets, bonuses, email subjects, workshop titles, questions customers might ask, and ways to explain what you sell.

7. Create a first draft faster.
This may be one of the most practical uses of AI. Instead of staring at a blank screen, give AI your ideas, notes, stories, bullet points, or rough outline and ask it to create a first draft. Then—and this part matters—make it yours. Add your experiences, opinions, personality, stories, examples, and voice.

8. Repurpose what you’ve already created.
One of the biggest opportunities for busy entrepreneurs is taking one good piece of content and turning it into many useful pieces. A podcast can become a blog post. A blog post can become several social posts. A workshop can become an email sequence. A book chapter can become a lead magnet. AI can help you see those possibilities and do much of the preliminary work.

9. Understand your audience better.
Give AI a description of your ideal customer and ask questions such as: What might this person be worried about? What questions would they ask before buying? What objections might they have? What words might they use to describe their problem? This can help you communicate more clearly with real people.

10. Make your business simpler.
This may be the most overlooked use of AI. Instead of asking only, “What else can I create?” ask, “What can I simplify?” AI can help you examine your processes, identify repetitive tasks, create checklists, organize ideas, develop standard procedures, and find places where you’re spending time unnecessarily.

11. Use AI to become more yourself, not less.

That may sound surprising. But AI doesn’t have to produce generic content that sounds like everyone else’s. You can use it to help uncover the ideas, stories, experiences, and knowledge that only you can bring to the conversation.

Your life experience is still yours. Your opinions are still yours. Your relationships, failures, successes, humor, perspective, and hard-earned wisdom are still yours.

AI can help you organize those things, develop them, question them, and communicate them—but you are still the source of the human experience behind the work.

For someone who is hesitant about AI, that might be the most reassuring place to begin: you don’t have to give your creativity or your judgment to AI. You can use AI to give yourself more time and energy to use them.
